Unbounded Quality Audio
Posted by Mal on 30th Apr 2012
Firstly... Top marks to Ordio for an efficient, speedy and enjoyable purchasing experience. Have no fear when ordering from these guys.
I've been a diehard Sennheiser user for many years so didn't expect to be let down by anything from their current range.
In this case, I use my RS-170s for listening to anything plugged into the Home Theatre System - Free To Air, Movies and Music.
Must admit to preferring Circum-aural headphones as I can't stand anything clamped directly over my ears. The 170s are a good fit for me and very comfortable to wear over long periods. I have quite small ears though and the fit is quite snug; so might be a problem for anyone with larger ears.
The quality of audio is excellent and when combined with either the Bass Boost or the Surround Sound features, depending on the material being experienced, the resulting sound is very, very good with plenty of depth, range and detail. Maybe not quite as good as my 'wired' HD-600s but for the money, I'm very happy with them and very happy to recommend them...

my personal experience with Sennheiser RS 170
Posted by Kenith Kawasaki on 26th Jul 2010
Honestly, the sole reason I purchased these Sennheiser RS170 wireless headphones was that I love watching flick shows and I don't want any more complaints from neighbours for having my home theatre system too loud...
I can't help but enjoy the surround feature and Bass boost when watching movies. I forked out a lot of dough for a high-end home theatre system 2 years ago and the bass is pretty awesome.
In the evenings, especially when it's very late, I have to make sure the volume is low and that's when I would grab my RS170 headphones. They actually sound a lot better than the system when playing at a low decibel level. I can walk around my house, which has a decent size, and still hear everything clearly without suffering any break-up.
The RS 170 headphones are also classified as "closed" which help shut out ambient noise although safety should not be a problem as I can still hear my kids calling me.
The only real issue I've had so far is an occasional sound dropout. I ended up moving the transmitter around and manually paired the headphones. Since then I have had no problems although I don't know if it would ever happen again. If it does happen, I guess all I need is to move the transmitter again :)
I would highly recommend Sennheiser RS170 wireless headphones to anyone who watches a lot of movies. I'm not really into music and thus can't comment on that.
