Sennheiser PXC 450
Product Description
The PXC 450 is a circumaural high-end travel headphone set with NoiseGard™ 2.0 technology and TalkThrough function for the best possible attenuation of ambient noise. The PXC 450 enables an unprecedented sound experience for people on the move, thanks to its adaptive baffle damping in combination with the patented Duofol diaphragms, which prevent unwanted partial oscillation and thus guarantee a highly natural, lifelike sound quality.NoiseGard™ is an active noise compensation system which Sennheiser originally developed for use by pilots, who have to rely on good sound quality and efficient protection against ambient noise even in high-noise environments. NoiseGard™ actively compensates the noise, based on the physics principle of sound and counter-sound.NoiseGard™ 2.0 has perfected the NoiseGard™ principle thanks to the use of optimised circuitry design and even more efficient processors. It also uses better quality microphones, which enable more sophisticated pick-up of unwanted noise. Specially developed filter algorithms enable improved active noise compensation of up to 90% (23 dB). It is of course also possible to use these headphones passively, i.e. without NoiseGard™ and without batteries. Users of a PXC 450 who wish to communicate with their neighbours can do so without taking off the headphones: when the TalkThrough function is activated, professional quality microphones mounted on the outside of the headphones pick up all acoustic signals in the immediate vicinity. Unwanted background noise, such as the sound of the engines on a plane, is filtered out electronically to a great extent, so that only the neighbour’s voice is passed on through the headphones into the user’s ear in top audio quality. The PXC 450 is foldable and is supplied complete with practical transport case, 2 AAA batteries and audio adaptors (double mono and 6.3mm). Volume control integrated in the headphones and a single-sided detachable and replaceable cable ensure maximum convenience for the user.

I'm always very cautious when shopping online simply because there are too many scams nowadays. Most people don't have deep pockets and I'm one of them. As a result, I always shop around for the best deal possible...I've got my fingers burnt a few times I have to admit. I once bought something from a seller on EBay they got the lowest price. To my surprise, the item I received was so different from their online description and image that I couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't even bother to try to get my money back because I didn't want to waste any more of my time.
Since then, I've been extremely "careful" when shopping online...
I was doing some research the other day because I needed to buy a pair of high quality headphones for my yoga session. I've heard good things about Sennheiser headphones, especially the RS series wireless ones.
I went to Shopbot.com.au and Getprice.com.au and found that a site called "Ordio" seemed to have the cheapest price. As I said I got my fingers burnt before so I didn't buy anything in a rush. I wanted to find out more details about them: who are they and what's their background?
1. Are they operating from a garage with no physical shop?
2. Do they have real address to visit or a PO Box address only?
3. Do they have a contact phone number so I can talk to real person if I have questions?
I found out that Ordio does have a retail shop in Westfield and there's a phone number I can call and speak to real people. I live in Kogarah and took the train to Bondi Junction on a weekend to "suss them out". It turned out that they are legit...and their prices on most Sennheiser headphones are the lowest. I asked them about the warranty and was told I have 2 years warranty with my invoice. I also challenged them ‘how come some
other sites are selling the same model for much less money? And their reply was that's because those headphones were not from Aussie suppliers and don't carry Genuine Australian Warranty, they are usually imported from overseas.
The guy in Ordio store also suggested me to contact Sennheiser Australia to find out if a particular seller is an authorised seller. If not, buyers beware! Because no matter what they promise you; they don't carry a Genuine Australian Warranty. What if something goes wrong.......??
I was pretty happy with what I saw and heard. I didn't buy my headphones while I was there. They assured me that I can get the same price on their website so I just left and ordered my headphones from their website the next day. Obviously they got the stock because I received it the day after via registered mail :)
Ok, time to go back to my yoga session now...thanks Ordio
